TAA50104 DIPLOMA OF TRAINING AND ASSESSMENT

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This program specifies the competencies required to engage in advanced training and assessment practice

which may also include competence in one or more of the following areas:

development of training products, provision of training advisory and consultancy services and leadership and

co-ordination of training and assessment services.

The program caters for individuals from a wide variety of organisational professions and personal backgrounds.

This includes roles such as Learning and Development Manager, Training Manager, Human Resources

Manager or Learning and Development Consultants with a Registered Training Organisation. This qualification

also applies to those working as independent training consultants and/or those responsible for organisational

training and development.

The course targets experienced trainers and assessors wishing to further develop techniques and

methodologies at a management level.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entrants to the Diploma must have the core units of the TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or

be able to demonstrate equivalent competence.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

This program can be used to develop and enhance the current skills of trainers, assessors, auditors

and managers who operate in vocational education sector and public/private organisations.

PROGRAM DURATION

This course is structured through competency based training and assessment. Course duration is based on

individual training requirements and the completion of classroom assessments, workplace projects. The training

program can be customised and the duration will depend upon the learner’s prior experience and the amount of

time that can be devoted to study and completion of activities.

PROGRAM ARTICULATION

Articulation to undergraduate and postgraduate degree Training and Development is possible, but will need to

be negotiated on an individual basis with universities.

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

Individuals may receive credit for their knowledge and skills through recognition of prior learning (RPL) upon

completion of the RPL process.

The process will involve an initial meeting with an assessor to discuss your needs. Fees may be applicable for

this service. You will then be required to gather your evidence; enrol into the class/es and submit your

application for assessment.

Assessment may include skills and achievements from:

• Work experience (paid and unpaid)

• Life experience (for example leisure pursuits or voluntary work)

• Previous study (formal or informal training and education, for example industry training, school, college or adult

education classes)

In order to grant RPL, an assessor must be confident that candidates are currently competent. Evidence used

for assessment may take a variety of forms and could include certification, references from past employers, work

samples, testimonials from clients and challenge testing.
